And just like that, her fate was sealed.

It was something she'd been thinking about for weeks--since right after Jimmy had their marriage annulled without telling her until after the fact. It was then that she'd begun hearing rumors about demons, and making deals to make your dreams come true. She'd chalked it up to nonsense at first--not the demons part--because she was well aware that there was a great deal of weirdness in the world--but the other part. Because none of her dreams had ever come true.

She'd long ago given up hoping.

Even as Azrael had promised to get her back into the Daily Planet, sealing the deal with a kiss that had taken her breath away, Chloe still hadn't truly believed it would work.

Not fifteen minutes later she got a call from Perry White himself, asking her to come work for him at the Daily Planet.

It was as if she were waking up from some kind of strange dream.

And it felt as if she was just welcomed back to her life once more.

Chloe sat in the Talon, sipping a cup of coffee that had long ago gone cold. She glanced at her watch, hoping Lois was going to be on time. Frankly she just wanted to get out of Smallville for awhile, and a few hours of retail therapy with her favorite cousin sounded like the cure for everything. Or at least for the self-induced isolation she'd been in for the last couple of weeks.

She looked up as her cousin stepped inside, looking amazing as always. Chloe set her cup on the table and rose to her feet. "Hey."

I killed a man. As much as I would like to blame my actions murdering Sebastian Kane on Brainiac, I know deep down that you were right, Oliver. I did it to protect Clark.

I know now that everyone has a dark side, that things aren't as black and white as they should be or seem to be sometimes, and I know that the guilt will eventually eat away at me until there's nothing left there's already nothing left.

When Clark finds out what I've done, he will never forgive me.
