Chloe Sullivan's had a rough life. When she was very young, her mother left her and her father, Gabe Sullivan, without any explainations. Years later, Gabe moved them from Metropolis, Kansas, to Smallville, Kansas, where Chloe became the editor of Smallville High's newspaper, The Torch. During her time in Smallville, she became best friends with Clark Kent (future Superman), Pete Ross, and Lana Lang (though years of watching Clark and Lana do the mating dance from afar was incredibly difficult for Chloe, as she too, loved Clark).

Her time in Smallville also opened her eyes to a world of things not quite natural--and thus she developed her Wall of Weird. She spent a great deal of time trying to learn the truth behind Smallville's meteor rocks--and eventually realized that they actually gave people abilities. She learned Clark Kent's secret--that he is an alien from Krypton and has many special abilities-- and has become one of his most trusted, relied upon secret keepers.

After graduating from Smallville High as the class valedictorian, Chloe returned to Metropolis to go to college, and began working at the Daily Planet, the newspaper she'd idolized as a small child. There, she met up with Jimmy Olsen, the first and only guy she'd ever slept with, and they began dating. Chloe eventually learned that her mother didn't leave her and Gabe by choice, but because she was meteor-infected and had the ability to control others who were meteor-infected, including her daughter.

Chloe learned of her meteor infection when she was taken by Lex Luthor and his team of scientists, who performed tests on her and wiped her memory of the event, and placing a small locator chip under her collarbone, which Clark helped her remove. She had no idea what powers she might have gained, and was quite frightened to find out. Then her cousin, Lois Lane, was stabbed and Chloe's powers kicked in when she accidently healed Lois and died because of it, as it drained her of her energy. She woke up hours later in a morgue drawer.

Her cousin Lois began working for the Daily Planet, and shortly after, Lex Luthor bought it out and fired Chloe. She has been running the Isis Foundation (a non profit agency that helps meteor infected individuals) since her friend Lana (who started the foundation) left town.

She also moonlights as "Watchtower" for the Justice League--currently run by Oliver Queen. She's a magnet for trouble, and always has been. She and Jimmy recently got married--and right after her wedding, Chloe was abducted by a monster later known as Doomsday. The abduction activated Brainiac, who had attacked her earlier that year, and he took possession of her body until Clark and some of his friends saved her life and performed a techno-exorcism.

Here's where we divert from canon.

Unbenknownst to Chloe, Jimmy had their marriage annulled once he was recovered from the attack at the wedding. She's only just learned of this, and it's set her off balance. Struggling to figure out her life and where she belongs...
